Students are expected to make each Renaissance learning experience rigorous for themselves. At the beginning of each experience the student and mentor (with the help of the Renaissance director) identify the proficiencies the student will address during the learning experience.
In order to successfully complete a Renaissance learning experience, students:
Submit a coherent and doable study proposal.
Provide evidence of their learning and process: Most Renaissance students create a website or google folder to document the content of their learning and their reactions/connections t the content. Digital evidence serve as a portfolio of their experience for transcripts or work applications
Communicate their learning via final exhibition/presentation/celebration. The communication is a celebration of student learning assessed by a panel of people (minimally including the student, the mentor, the Renaissance director and the faculty advisor )
Exert the effort necessary to maintain the rigor expected of that individual student (this includes meeting with the mentor at least 1-2 hours each week, working independently during the week and attending a Renaissance seminar once a week)
